Choose by material role first
A useful selection process separates a button-casting requirement from a reinforced FRP requirement. Samrat FRP Traders publishes Button Grade Resin as a transparent, semi-liquid polyester casting grade for buttons and small decorative mouldings. It is not positioned as the general-purpose resin for glass-fibre-reinforced structural laminates.
This first decision prevents a common procurement error: comparing unrelated product names without defining what the resin must do in the finished part.
Define the visible requirement
For button production, record whether the resin's appearance is expected to be transparent or used with pigment-colour work. The Button Grade Resin information supports natural transparent buttons and pigmented colour work; any additional visual, finishing or performance requirement should be confirmed with the technical team.
Avoid treating a general phrase such as clear or casting resin as proof of suitability for every finish, mould design or downstream process.
Review the published processing information
Use the Button Grade Resin TDS and published data for the specific grade: 1,100 cPs viscosity, 9.5-minute gel time, approximate two-hour cure, and the listed MEKP and cobalt octoate system. Product data must be assessed alongside the actual shop-floor conditions and casting method.
If a different resin system is specified, such as the site's two-part epoxy Clear Casting Resin, review that product's separate mix ratio and cure schedule rather than transferring polyester-resin assumptions.
Prepare the selection brief
Before asking for a quote or trial discussion, write down the intended button or small moulded part, transparency or pigment-colour requirement, casting method if known, expected quantity, delivery location and any current process observation. This turns an ambiguous material enquiry into a decision-ready brief.
Frequently asked questions
Is a clear general-purpose resin automatically suitable for button casting?
No. Start with the material role. Button Grade Resin is published as a transparent polyester casting grade for buttons and small decorative mouldings, while GP Clear Resin is published for general reinforced FRP work.
What should a production manager confirm before a trial?
Confirm the intended part, required appearance, product TDS, casting method, expected quantity and the existing process context. Do not substitute catalyst or cure practices from another grade without approval.
When is a two-part epoxy system relevant?
Only where an epoxy system is specified or otherwise technically appropriate. Clear Casting Resin is a separate two-part epoxy product with its own mix ratio and cure schedule.
