A buyer searching for polyester resin may find several names that appear similar. The safe way to begin is not to assume that one name is a substitute for another, but to identify what role the resin needs to perform in the product and process.
The published Samrat FRP Traders range separates general FRP laminate options from lamination, mould-surface, casting, fire-performance and chemical-resistance discussions. That separation helps prevent a broad UPR request from becoming an inaccurate product specification.
The standard general-purpose starting point
For general clear FRP work, GP Clear Resin is the published standard clear orthophthalic UPR grade. GP Yellow Resin is the published transparent-yellow general-purpose grade to review where that supplied colour is acceptable in the build-up.
The component, reinforcement, production method and required final appearance still matter. The fact that two products sit within a general polyester-resin conversation does not make their published properties interchangeable.
When the application needs a specialist role
Lamination Resin is published for door, plywood and FRP-bonding applications. GP Gelcoat Resin is published for the mould-facing surface layer. Button Grade Resin is published for buttons and small decorative mouldings. Each answer starts with a different product role, not merely a different product name.
For a stated fire-performance requirement, review Fire Retardant Resin and its product data. For a stated chemical- or corrosion-resistance requirement, review Vinyl Ester Resin and its separate technical data. Do not infer a rating or performance outcome from this overview alone.

Are GP Resin and UPR Resin different categories?
UPR is the broader category term. GP Resin is a more specific general-purpose product role within the polyester-resin selection conversation. Confirm the individual product data rather than relying on either label alone.
When should a buyer look beyond a general-purpose UPR grade?
Look beyond it when the requirement is specifically for lamination, a mould-side finish, decorative casting, stated fire performance, chemical or corrosion resistance, or a separately specified resin system.
Can one TDS be used for all polyester resin grades?
No. A TDS applies to the grade it was issued for. It should not be used to infer the viscosity, gel time, packaging, suitability or other details of another product.
