Three fire-retardant laminating resins in the range
The catalogue carries two fire-retardant orthophthalic resins — SPR 201 FR, which is halogenated, and SPR 201 FR (HF), which is halogen-free — and an isophthalic one, SPR 301 FR, which is also halogen-free and ATH-filled. SPR 201 FR (HF) is listed for halogen-free fire-retardant FRP laminates, marine composite components and applications that specify halogen-free fire retardancy.
Why a specification may say halogen-free
Fire-retardant resins reach their behaviour through different chemistries. Some use halogenated components; others avoid them. A project, a client or a transport or building standard may require the halogen-free route, usually because of what a material releases when it burns. The requirement comes from the project, not from the resin: read the specification first, then choose the grade.
Reading the published values
SPR 201 FR (HF) is a heavier, more viscous resin than the general laminating grades: the catalogue lists a white to light-yellow opaque liquid of 1,500–3,500 cPs at 25 °C, a gel time of 15–30 minutes at 25 °C, a specific gravity of 1.25–1.45 and 30–40% styrene. It is supplied non-accelerated, with a reference cure of MEKP 1.5% and cobalt octoate 0.4%, each added separately. Plan wet-out and handling around that viscosity.
Limitations: what a resin cannot certify
A fire-retardant formulation does not by itself give a finished part a fire rating. Ratings belong to a tested construction — resin, reinforcement, thickness, gelcoat and any core together — tested to the standard the project names. Samrat FRP Traders does not test or certify fire performance, and the catalogue does not publish a fire classification for this grade.
If the project does not require halogen-free, SPR 201 FR is the halogenated alternative; if it also needs an isophthalic laminate, SPR 301 FR is the halogen-free isophthalic grade.
Source, roles and the Nepal enquiry path
The values on this page are the typical specification printed for SPR 201 FR (HF) in the supplier’s 2026 product catalogue. Samrat Poly Resins has since published a Technical Data Sheet for this grade, linked from the product page; its figures and the catalogue’s agree, and the catalogue is the source named beside every figure here.
Samrat Poly Resins, India manufactures the grade and issues its technical information. Samrat FRP Traders is the Nepal supplier and importer and handles enquiries; price, packaging, lead time and stock in Nepal are confirmed on enquiry.

Frequently asked questions
Does this resin make a part fireproof?
No. It is a fire-retardant resin. Fire performance belongs to the finished, tested laminate, not to the resin alone.
What is the difference from SPR 201 FR?
SPR 201 FR is halogenated. SPR 201 FR (HF) is halogen-free, with a higher viscosity and a longer gel time in the catalogue.
Which fire test does it pass?
The catalogue does not publish a fire classification for this grade. Test the finished laminate to the standard your project names.
