SMC in one paragraph
Sheet moulding compound is a ready-to-mould sheet: resin, filler and chopped reinforcement combined and matured into a pliable sheet that is cut, loaded into a heated mould and pressed. The resin is the matrix of that sheet. SPR 301 SMC is the isophthalic resin the catalogue lists for hot-mould SMC processing, and describes as having superior properties compared with the orthophthalic SPR 201 SMC grade.
Reading the published values
The catalogue publishes one combined typical specification for the isophthalic SMC and DMC resins: a clear, pale-yellow to light-amber liquid of 800–1,400 cPs at 25 °C, a gel time of 12–18 minutes at 25 °C, a specific gravity of 1.10–1.14 and 31–36% styrene by weight, supplied non-accelerated with a reference cure of MEKP 1.5% and cobalt octoate 0.4%, each added separately. The shared specification does not make them one product: they are manufactured separately for different compound forms.
Limitations and alternatives
Moulded-part properties come from the whole compound — resin, filler, reinforcement, thickeners and the press cycle — not from the resin alone. SMC resins exist in three chemistries in the range: the orthophthalic DMC/SMC Resin (SPR 201), this isophthalic grade, and the terephthalic SPR 401 SMC. The comparison guide on SMC resins by chemistry sets them side by side.
Source, roles and the Nepal enquiry path
The values on this page are the typical specification printed for SPR 301 SMC in the supplier’s 2026 product catalogue. Samrat Poly Resins has since published a Technical Data Sheet for this grade, linked from the product page; its figures and the catalogue’s agree, and the catalogue is the source named beside every figure here.
Samrat Poly Resins, India manufactures the grade and issues its technical information. Samrat FRP Traders is the Nepal supplier and importer and handles enquiries; price, packaging, lead time and stock in Nepal are confirmed on enquiry.

Frequently asked questions
Are SPR 301 SMC and SPR 301 DMC the same resin?
They share one published typical specification but are separately manufactured products for different compound forms.
What does “superior properties” mean?
The catalogue describes the isophthalic SMC resin as superior compared with the SPR 201 SMC grade without publishing comparative figures. Confirm the difference that matters to your part with a trial.
Does the site sell finished SMC sheet?
No. SPR 301 SMC is the resin used to make SMC; the compound itself is made by the moulder or compounder.
