Common questions
Behind a gelcoat layer, yes — the gelcoat determines the finish, so GP Yellow Resin's viscosity and colour don't affect detail reproduction. For finely ornamental shapes moulded without a gelcoat, where the base resin's own flow matters directly, GP Clear Resin's lower viscosity reproduces fine detail somewhat more readily.
Most fabricators apply a gelcoat layer first for a smooth, finished surface, then laminate GP Yellow Resin and reinforcement behind it to build the part's structural thickness — the same approach used with GP Clear Resin.
Yes, FRP Polyester Pigment can be blended in, though GP Yellow Resin's existing yellow tint will combine with whatever pigment is added. For fully predictable, uninfluenced colour, blending pigment into the colourless GP Clear Resin gives a more controllable result.
It is cured at room temperature with an MEKP catalyst (around 1.5%) and a cobalt octoate accelerator (0.3–0.5%), with dosage adjusted to the size and complexity of the specific mould.
E-glass chopped strand mat is the standard reinforcement, with layer count adjusted to the structural needs of the specific product being moulded — the same reinforcement approach used with GP Clear Resin.
