About this product
Samrat FRP Traders supplies and imports FRP Polyester Pigment for the Nepal market. Current Samrat Poly Resins, India documentation identifies it as a polyester pigment paste — the colour component blended into unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester and gelcoat systems.
It is not a structural resin, a glass-fibre reinforcement or a gelcoat in its own right. Its role is to add colour to the resin or gelcoat that is already being used, and the supplier notes a recommended dosage of around 2 to 5 percent, stirred in thoroughly before the catalyst is added.
Supplier documentation lists high tinting strength (≥ 95%), heat resistance up to 180 °C and light fastness of 7 to 8 on the Blue Wool Scale for the pigment itself, with a specific gravity of 1.45 g/cm³. Finished-part weathering still depends on the surrounding resin or gelcoat, which is a separate property.
Technical specifications are published in the supplier's Technical Data Sheet. For current pricing, availability and packaging options in Nepal, contact Samrat FRP Traders through the enquiry page.
What this means for buyers
Colour, not structure
The pigment adds colour to a separately selected resin or gelcoat; it does not act as a resin or surface coat by itself. Choose the resin or gelcoat system first, then match the pigment.
Dosage and mixing
Supplier documentation lists a recommended 2 to 5 percent dosage, stirred in before the catalyst is added. Mixing colour in after catalysing risks uneven colour as working time runs out.
Pigment fastness vs. part weathering
A high light-fastness pigment can still sit inside a resin or gelcoat that yellows or chalks outdoors. Long-term outdoor performance depends on the resin or gelcoat's own UV stability.
Key features
- Blends seamlessly with unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester and gelcoat systems
- High tinting strength (≥95%) delivers full colour at a low 2–5% dosage
- Withstands exothermic curing heat, rated up to 180°C
- 7–8 Blue Wool Scale light-fastness for the pigment's own colour retention
- Available in RAL and Pantone custom matches

Applications
Supplier documentation lists use in FRP tanks and pipes, gelcoats for boats and automotive parts, decorative and architectural panels, and electrical enclosures.
Resin for Roofing Sheet ManufacturingRoofing and cladding sheet manufacturers need even lamination across large panel areas, without pooling or dry patches that weaken the sheet.
Resin for FRP Panel ManufacturingGeneral FRP panels — from partitions to enclosures — need a resin that processes predictably at volume, batch after batch.
Resin for General FRP Moulded ProductsFrom tanks to novelty mouldings, general FRP moulded products need a laminate that cures reliably and releases cleanly from the mould.
Gelcoat for Boat & Marine Hull FinishingBoat and marine hulls need a smooth, glossy cosmetic skin applied to the mould first — a surface coating, not the structural laminate that gives the hull its strength.
Gelcoat for FRP Bathware & SanitarywareBathtubs and shower trays need a smooth, glossy mould-facing surface coat applied before the structural laminate — the cosmetic finish, not the reinforced backing.
Gelcoat for Water Tank ExteriorsFRP water tank exteriors need a clean, glossy cosmetic surface coat applied to the mould face — separate from the structural laminate that forms the tank wall itself.Industries served
- FRP tank & pipe manufacturing
- Marine & automotive gelcoat
- Architectural & decorative panels

Frequently asked questions
What is FRP Polyester Pigment?
Supplier documentation identifies it as a polyester pigment paste for adding colour to unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester and gelcoat systems. Samrat FRP Traders supplies and imports it for Nepal.
Is it a resin or gelcoat?
No. It is a colour component blended into the resin or gelcoat already being used — it is not a structural resin, reinforcement or gelcoat in its own right.
What is the recommended dosage?
Supplier documentation lists a recommended dosage of about 2 to 5 percent by weight, stirred in before the catalyst is added. Adding more than necessary is not recommended.
What published properties should I know?
Supplier documentation lists high tinting strength (≥ 95%), heat resistance up to 180 °C, light fastness of 7 to 8 on the Blue Wool Scale, and specific gravity of 1.45 g/cm³ for the pigment itself.
Does it make a finished part weather-resistant?
Not on its own. Pigment colour retention and the finished part's overall weather resistance are separate properties — the surrounding resin or gelcoat's UV stability matters as much.
