A colour component for an FRP material system

FRP Polyester Pigment is the published Samrat FRP Traders product for adding colour within an FRP material-system discussion. It is supplied as a polyester pigment paste for FRP; it is not the structural resin, Glass Fiber reinforcement or finished gelcoat layer itself.

This distinction helps a buyer begin with the right question. First define the component and the required appearance, then identify the resin or gelcoat system being considered, and finally review whether the published pigment product is appropriate for that system.

Polyester pigment paste, FRP colour paste and resin pigment

Industrial buyers may use several terms for the same product role: FRP polyester pigment, polyester pigment paste, FRP colour paste or resin pigment. The useful procurement detail is not the label alone; it is the actual base system, intended component, shade reference if known and the expected finished appearance.

The current product data publishes use with unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl ester and gelcoat systems. It does not make a universal compatibility statement, so the base system should be identified rather than assumed from a generic pigment-paste request.

Keep the colouring decision separate from the resin decision

A GP, Lamination, Gelcoat or Vinyl Ester product has its own published role. Pigment selection does not replace selection of the underlying resin or surface-finish material. For an FRP buyer, the practical route is to review the component requirement, choose the relevant base material, then discuss the colour requirement against that documented system.

Where a visible mould-side surface is required, review the Gelcoat product role as well as the pigment discussion. Where the requirement is a pre-coloured resin grade rather than a pigment-paste system, review the relevant product data instead of assuming the two choices are interchangeable.

What to include in a pigment enquiry

Share the FRP component, intended resin or gelcoat system if known, required colour reference or appearance requirement, expected quantity and delivery location. If a drawing, approved visual reference or purchase specification exists, include it in the commercial discussion. This helps separate a colour requirement from the separate decisions on resin grade, reinforcement and production process.

Frequently asked questions

Is FRP Polyester Pigment the same as polyester resin?

No. The published product is a polyester pigment paste for FRP. It is a colour component within a material system, whereas a resin grade has a separate product role.

Can pigment paste be assumed compatible with every resin?

No. The product page publishes UPR, vinyl ester and gelcoat system context, but the actual base system and application should be confirmed before a requirement is finalised.
