Treat colour variation as a material-system question
When an FRP product appears uneven in colour, the useful first step is to document the question rather than assume a single cause. Colour appearance can involve the selected component, base resin or gelcoat system, colour requirement, material history and production conditions. This page does not diagnose or prescribe a correction.

Record what the finished component was meant to look like
Keep the intended component, colour reference or approved appearance description, whether the surface is visible, and the base product under review. If the enquiry concerns a panel, tank, moulded part or gelcoat surface, identify that component precisely. A general request for 'better pigment dispersion' does not provide enough product context for a reliable discussion.
Keep the material and production record together
Where available, retain the product identity, batch or container record, receipt date, storage history, component record and any photographs that fairly show the issue. These details support a factual conversation without asserting that any one material or process variable caused the appearance difference.
Know when to discuss the base material as well
If the visible appearance relates to a surface-finish requirement, review the relevant Gelcoat product role. If it relates to the bulk FRP component, identify the actual resin system under review. The aim is to ensure the colour discussion, base-material discussion and finished-product requirement are evaluated together.
