Chemistry
UV-stabilized clear orthophthalic polyester

Roof-light sheets exposed to sunlight
Not to be confused with
UV Stabilized Sheet Grade Yellow Resin (a pre-pigmented yellow grade)

Where this grade fits

The orthophthalic family has three sheet grades: SPR 201 SGY for pre-pigmented yellow sheet, SPR 201 RL for translucent roof-light and skylight sheet, and SPR 201 RL (UV) for roof-light sheet that will be exposed to sunlight. The catalogue lists the UV grade for UV-stabilized clear roof-light sheets, sunlight-exposed translucent roofing panels and industrial daylighting.

What UV stabilization means here

Sunlight’s ultraviolet component slowly attacks polyester resin, which shows as yellowing and loss of surface quality on sheets left outdoors. UV stabilization adds protection against that exposure in the cured sheet. It is not a curing method: this grade is still cured with MEKP and cobalt octoate — the catalogue reference is MEKP 1.5% and cobalt octoate 0.4%, each added separately.

The catalogue lists a clear transparent liquid of 200–400 cPs, a gel time of 6.5–10 minutes and 30–40% styrene, supplied non-accelerated. These are resin values; how a finished sheet weathers depends on its build-up, its surface and the site.

Selection questions

Will the sheet face direct sunlight in service? Must it stay clear and translucent, or is a coloured sheet acceptable? Is it continuous sheet production or hand lay-up? The catalogue’s selection guide is simple: RL for roof-light sheet, RL (UV) where that sheet is exposed to sunlight, SGY for general sheet.

Limitations and alternatives

UV stabilization slows weathering; it does not make a sheet immune to it, and the catalogue does not publish a service life. Treat the values as typical and confirm performance on your own sheet.

The yellow UV Stabilized Sheet Grade Yellow Resin on this site is a different product: pre-pigmented and yellow. For roof-light sheet that stays out of direct sun, SPR 201 RL is the standard grade.

Source, roles and the Nepal enquiry path

The values on this page are the typical specification printed for SPR 201 RL (UV) in the supplier’s 2026 product catalogue. Samrat Poly Resins has since published a Technical Data Sheet for this grade, linked from the product page; its figures and the catalogue’s agree, and the catalogue is the source named beside every figure here.

Samrat Poly Resins, India manufactures the grade and issues its technical information. Samrat FRP Traders is the Nepal supplier and importer and handles enquiries; price, packaging, lead time and stock in Nepal are confirmed on enquiry.

Frequently asked questions

Does UV-stabilized mean UV-curing?

No. The grade is cured with MEKP and cobalt octoate. UV stabilization protects the cured sheet in sunlight.

Is this the yellow UV sheet resin?

No. SPR 201 RL (UV) is a clear roof-light grade. UV Stabilized Sheet Grade Yellow Resin is a separate, pre-pigmented yellow product.

How long will a sheet last outdoors?

The catalogue does not publish a service life, and it depends on the sheet’s build-up, surface and site. Confirm with your own exposure experience or testing.
